Press Release: British brands introduced in Scandinavia

– The British country style is here to stay, says Karl Oskar Källsner, Managing director of Tweed Country Sports.
– It is relaxed and elegant, playful and informal, and it is closely connected to popular activities like riding, hunting and golf.

Besides Tricker’s, Bladen and Chapman bags a collection from Duke and Honour is also introduced with a closer focus on ladies’ fashion, a somewhat tougher line of waxed jackets and knitted jumpers from Peregrine, along with classic jackets, waistcoats and corduroyCorduroy is a textile composed of twisted fibers that, when woven, lie parallel (similar to twill) to one another to form the cloth's distinct pattern, a "cord." Modern corduroy is most commonly composed of tufted cords, sometimes exhibiting a channel (bare to the base fabric) between the tufts. Corduroy is, in essence, a ridged form of velvet. In Sweden known as "Manchester" trousers for gents from Gurteen Esquire.

Some of the brands are already familiar to the Scandinavians: Chrysalis, who makes the world’s best tweed coats, Pennine, who offers knitted sweaters and sock in a modern palette, and John Comfort, with their unique country style ties in wool and silk.

Internet marketing
A website was recently set up at www.countrysports.se, focusing entirely on the British country style. Here the participating brands are presented, and the various product lines are exhibited along with information on retailers, and a growing editorial content deals with every aspect of the country lifestyle, from the detail to the philosophical. Mr Tweed’s blog guides the visitors through the world of tweed, moleskin, corduroy, checked shirts, waxed cotton and brown brogues. An on-line store takes care of consumer orders from a selected catalogue.

– By allowing some consumer sales on our website we create a new range of possibilities to generate traffic to our site, says Karl Oskar Källsner.
– And therefore the website can become a real marketing tool for our retailers and assisting them in expanding their client base. We are confident that this is the way to go as the Internet is fast emerging as the most important marketing channel.

Exhibits at Copenhagen International Fashion Fair
But shoes and clothes have to be experienced in the real world. In Tweed Country Sport’s showroom just outside of Vingåker, both customers and retailers can get acquainted with the whole range of products, from shoes to waistcoats, as well as getting tips and advice from the staff. Tweed Country Sports is also exhibiting at the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair from February 5 through 8.

– We view this as a perfect opportunity to meet both current and new retailers, with all of our Brands collected in one place, says Karl Oskar Källsner.
– It will also be possible to speak with many of the makers right there in person.

Tweed Country Sport’s stand (E-002) is situated in the central E-hall of Bella Center Copenhagen.
